3rd Session IES Eusebio da Guarda

diciembre 11, 2025

The third session at IES Eusebio da Guarda delved into one of the project’s most important themes: fake news and the role of young people in producing reliable information. In a digital landscape where misinformation spreads quickly, learning how to recognise trustworthy sources and communicate responsibly becomes essential.

We began the session by analysing different types of journalistic articles and the basic elements that make information credible. Students learned how headlines influence perception, how images can manipulate emotions and how biased language can distort facts. The discussion helped them understand the importance of media literacy – a skill closely connected to active citizenship and democratic participation.

Their task for the day connected perfectly with the project’s aims: writing and sharing an article about European Union and young people. Students were encouraged to write for their own peers, both older and younger, selecting topics that could spark interest, reflection or debate. At the end of the session, each group shared its work, and together we selected the most engaging pieces to be published on “La web honesta”, an initiative carried out in collaboration with Ingalicia.

This experience empowered students to become not only conscious readers, but also creators of information – a step towards more responsible participation in society.
